Founded by Kristen Lundquist Mahosky, LPC, NCC, CCTP, CEMDR, RYT, CPT, The Heights Counseling & Wellness is dedicated to fostering holistic well-being through compassionate, expert care. With a foundation in evidence-based practices and a commitment to personalized support, The Heights provides a range of counseling and wellness services designed to empower clients on their journeys to mental, physical, and spiritual health. Kristen’s extensive experience in counseling, trauma recovery, and wellness coaching brings an integrative approach to personal growth and healing, creating a safe and welcoming space for all.

Kristen Lundquist Mahosky, LPC, NCC, CCTP, CEMDR, RYT, CPT
Kristen Lundquist Mahosky, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in both the District of Columbia and Pennsylvania, is a National Board Certified Counselor (NCC) and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP). She is a certified provider of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and trained in Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) through Journey Clinical. Her extensive training includes Biofeedback, Internal Family Systems (IFS), The Gottman Institute’s Couples Therapy Method, and Prepare/Enrich.
Kristen’s approach to counseling is compassion-focused and client-centered, drawing from interpersonal, cognitive-behavioral, and solutions-focused techniques. She is deeply committed to helping clients find hope and empowerment, guiding them through life’s challenging seasons. In each session, she prioritizes building trust, creating a safe space for clients’ unique stories, goals, and healing journeys.
Recognizing the individuality of each client’s path, Kristen integrates holistic wellness practices such as mind-body exercises, spiritual meditation, and tailored fitness and nutrition guidance. As a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance, a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) through the National Council on Strength and Fitness, and holding a Certificate in Nutrition from the University of Pittsburgh, Kristen emphasizes whole-person wellness—supporting clients toward mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical healing.
EDUCATION
Kristen is a graduate of Messiah College with a Master of Art’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Kristen also holds the National Certified Counselor (NCC) designation through the National Board of Certified Counselors, and is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) through PESI and Evergreen Certifications. Kristen has completed basic training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
work experience
Kristen founded and previously served as the Program Director for the Center for Women, Faith & Leadership (CWFL) at the Institute for Global Engagement (IGE) in Washington, D.C. She continues to now serve as a Senior Fellow and Advisory Council member. She has also served as a psychotherapist at The Women’s Center in Washington, D.C., and a TeleHealth therapist through the Grace Wellness Center in Pittsburgh, PA. Through her work, Kristen has cultivated a passion for working with individuals from many different backgrounds and cultures; and she regularly aids individuals struggling in difficult contexts around the world. To further support this work, Kristen holds an M.A. in World History from Eastern Illinois University, a B.A. in Theology and a B.A. in History with a focus on Near East Languages from The University of Northwestern - St. Paul, and a certificate in Religion and Conflict Resolution from Nyack College.
